Chip

People have been asking about Chip, so I thought I'd share a picture that shows how he is reacting to Allie. He is very interested in her, but this is about as close as he is comfortable getting.

Feeling Rested

Allie is now only waking up one time during the night! Wow, I'm feeling quite rested! Now, this has only been happening for a few nights, so hopefully we don't start regressing! She really has done great during the night since she's been born. She's always just woken up to eat and gone right back to bed without any crying. I am VERY grateful for this, as I always function best on at least 8-10 hours of sleep at night! =)

Look at me!

Allie is a month old today! We've been having so much fun together. We have really been blessed with such an easy baby! I've also been blessed with a wonderful husband. He is such a loving daddy, and it's so fun to watch him with our little girl.

Allie's favorite summer activity by far is hanging out by the pool! She swings in her travel swing in the shade and absolutely loves it! It just so happens that this has been my favorite summertime activity too!

I got out her playmat to see if she would like it yet. She liked the music and grabbed at a few of the toys, but her favorite discovery was herself in the mirror! She really like what she saw...

Shopaholic

Allie and I went shopping yesterday for Father's Day. My mom asked me if that was Allie's first trip to the mall. I counted in my head - no, this was indeed Allie's 4th trip to the mall! Seeing as she is only 3 weeks old, I think I may have a little shopaholic on my hands!

tornadoes and power outages and floods - oh my!

We had a very bizarre weekend! It all started Friday afternoon, when I decided to take Allie to visit all of our dear friends at the bank for the first time. Our visit was rudely interrupted by a terrible storm that appeared out of nowhere. All of the sudden the sky turned black and the bottom fell out. I was a little nervous about how I was going to get Allie back to the car, as people were saying the wind was so strong that it was hard to even stand up. After a few minutes of waiting, there was a break in the rain, and although the tornado sirens were blaring, we decided it was probably our best chance to head for home. Allie slept through the whole thing and was completely oblivious to the fact that sirens were blaring so loudly that it hurt my ears!

Next, we arrived home to find that our electricity had been knocked out. This was really no big surprise - but by this time, the storm had pretty much blown over, so we figured we'd be back up and running in no time. So, we waited... and waited.... but still no lights and no air. We kept thinking that it would come back any minute, so we decided to stay at home instead of getting a hotel. Well, let me tell you that a combination of uncomfortably hot temperatures mixed with midnight feedings and diaper changes by flashlight does not equal a restful night of sleep!

By Saturday, my family had regained power, so we headed over to camp out with them until ours came back. Saturday night came, but there was still no power at the Kendall household, so we spent the night with my parents. When we woke up the next morning, we looked out their window to this:

That's right, that is their backyard - and no, it does not usually have a river running through it, but yesterday it did. The water was a good 2 to 2 1/2 feet deep. We are still unsure how this happened, but after about an hour or two the water was completely gone! Bizarre is really the only word to appropriately describe it.

Sunday morning, we found out that we had finally regained power! So, after a LONG weekend, here we are safely back at home, extremely grateful for electricity!

Our Little Chunker

Little Allie went for her two week check up at the beginning of the week, and she is up to a whopping 8 lbs 4 oz! She is still doing so great! We've been staying busy the past week and have been having so much fun. I am so grateful that, so far, she's not a screamer, and I am really crossing my fingers that this lasts. She's been staying awake and alert a little bit more each day.

I am just so amazed at how God has blessed us so much more than we could have ever imagined. Unlike pregnancy, where I was constantly counting down the days and anxious for tomorrow to come, we are just enjoying each day and fully taking in each minute! I'm in no hurry for her to grow up, but am excited to live in each stage for as long as it lasts! This is a big deal for me, because so often I always am looking forward to the next best thing - counting down the days until the next holiday, special event, etc. Today, though, I am perfectly content with where we are and what God has in store for us each day!
