The Monster...

I think I have slightly created a disney monster in our house the last couple of days. Let me explain. She got this minnie suitcase for Christmas in preparation for our upcoming trip to Disney World! Well, she truly does LOVE all things Disney, but being only 2 doesn't have any idea what Disney World is. Wait. Let me back up. Up until about 6 days ago didn't have any idea what Disney World was....

So, naturally once we booked our trip, I decided, well it's only a month out, I should start telling her what it is, so she'll get excited. Thus, the monster was born.

She is a big fan of You Tube videos (under STRICT supervision, I assure you..) You know, itsy bitsy spider, Jesus Loves Me, Wheels on the Bus, Repunzel songs, that sort of thing. So, I thought, well I'll just pull up a Disney World video to show her what it is and tell her we're going soon.

Gone are the days of watching songs on the iPad. Her "recently watched list" now is filled with Disney World, an overview; riding the tea cups; small world; meeting the characters; and on and on. You get the drift. Before bed each night, it's I want to cuddle... and watch the ipad.

So, I started to realize there was a problem when we woke up for church Sunday and I said alright, Allie, let's go to Crossroads Church (her normal response being YAY!) This time, it was however replaced with... No, it's time to go to Disney World! In fact, every outing since then has had a similar response (wake up in the morning... "alright time to go to Disney World!", or from naptime, "let's go... time for Disney World" or do you want to go to the mall, Jannie's, Mimi's, etc.... "Um... no, let's go to Disney!".

I thought up (what I thought was) a great solution. Let's mark each morning with a sticker. I showed her the day on the calendar we're leaving and said, ok we'll put one on each morning, and when we get to this day, we're going on the big airplane to disney world!

I came to find the chair moved up to the calendar this morning with a calendar full of stickers... her response: "Alright, now it's time for DISNEY!!"

Hmm...

Oh yeah... and see that little airplane in her hands? She put it on the floor last night and squatted down on top of it and said, "Ok... let's get on the big airplane and go to Disney!!!"

Suffice it to say, she is VERY excited about the trip. Now let's hope the rest of us can get through the next 4 weeks with our little ~~monster~~ princess on hand!

A New Year; A New Challenge

Well... as my blog quite clearly shows... after Christmas in the Valley had come and gone, I was exhausted! We had A LOT going on, and I decided to slow down a bit. No blogging; very little jewelry business action; etc. I just wanted to stop and enjoy the Holidays with the kids and hubby. And, we sure did! It was nice, relaxing (I mean, as relaxing as Christmas with 3 stops in one day can be), and VERY enjoyable! We squeezed lots of fun activities in, which included a trip to Nashville as well as some fun activities around here. We baked, we shopped, we ate. I even managed to squeeze in time to read 3 books (the hunger games series), which is quite the luxery for me. We had fun.

Today I feel like it's the first day in a while where my goal is to be productive. It's nice, let me tell you, living for a month with very little hanging over your head to do or get done, and I can't say I didn't like it. I do however, have some things I'd like to actually do. So, here's to a productive "naptime" today!

I know that New Year's brings the dreaded or sometimes anticipated New Year's resolutions, I suppose depending who you are. Never really been for me. In fact, I can't say I've ever made one. My sister, however, things it's the sort of thing that makes for a fun New Year's Eve party... everyone write their goals, and then let's share em... To each his own, I suppose.

But, no matter which category you fall into, it is inevitably the time of year that people begin to think about cracking down on the sweets and stepping up their workout routines. With the holidays and all the goodies that come with that, it's an ever present reminder that we need a "fresh start". So, in light of that, my mom has asked me to continue the birthday present I gave to her (running the weight loss contest) for some extra motivation. She lost over 35 lbs in 5 months and is looking incredible! Everyone loved the accountability, fun, and competition that was involved. I mean, when money is involved, it makes everything just a little bit more motivating, right?

So, we are going to do a month by month contest. Each person who wants to participate each month will pay $20. Half will go to me for running it; Half will go into the prize pool. So, you can do the math.. 10 participants = a $100 monthly prize, etc. Each person will CONFIDENTIALLY report their weight to me each Friday of the month. I will convert the #'s to weight loss percentage and report once halfway through the month, so you know where you stand, and once more on the final weigh day of the month. The person with the highest weight loss percentage wins the prize $. Since the numbers are reported to weight loss percentage, this contest is for anyone needing to lose 5 lbs or 50! So, I was reminded yesterday that I failed to ever post pics of Pierce's birthday. This one is by far my fav! The party was a huge success (despite P coming down with the stomach virus hours after the party....)

Both kids were terribly cute (even though Pierce was wearing orange & white.. )

What's Up?

Well, other than loving on these sweet kiddos and doing fun things with them... A LOT!

Let's just say that between managing a total of 4 blogs (yes... now you see why this one has been a bit neglected...), planning Christmas in the Valley, planning mom's 50th birthday party (no...it's not a surprise), sewing halloween costumes and other holiday outfits, teaching aerobics (which has become just about a once a week thing), to running my own Premier business... it's safe to say that nap times have been VERY full! =)

The good news is that none of these things can really be done while the kids are awake(except aerobics.. but luckily they LOVE the childcare!) .. so don't worry...they're definitely not getting neglected..

The bad news: showers have some days become negotiable (is it sad that this has been all too common occurence since Pierce's birth?)

All in all.. a lot is "up".. but life is good! I'm actually at this point in time not too stressed at all! (now ask me again on Nov 18.. the day before C in the V and we'll see where I am..) I know my limits, and I try to not overexceed them. That doesn't always happen.. but for the most part, that is my goal! Life with a 1 and 2 yr old is full and blessed and sometimes means losing my mind a bit (i.e. today I was totally a no show for allie's eye dr appointment, because I was happily teaching zumba without a thought in the world). But, when things like that happen... you call, you apologize, you promise to try not to let it happen again... what else can you do?

You find that the once organized, cleaned housed, well-planned, having it all together person that you once were is maybe not the person you should be. Because after all... the carefree, roll with it, sometimes unshowered mom is the much more pleasant one for my kiddos to be around =)

Okay... I have officially gone Christmas crazy! I'm ready for it.. I've been making my lists, I've been thinking of gifts to buy (although I don't officially take that plunge until closer to thanksgiving!)

Someone said at church Sunday raise your hand if this is your favorite time of year... I nearly did... not because I'm especially affectionate about fall..(I in fact have a total of 2 fall decorations that I own that I have yet to put out).. but I do love fall simply because it is my "means to an end"... that is, it brings me Christmastime! So, yes costumes are fun (especially this year.. my mini repunzel and flynn rider will especially be adorable), thanksgiving is tasty.. but nothing can compare to the day after! Yes... Black Friday for me is when Christmas officially begins!

Yes, I intentionally wait until the craziest time of year to start shopping.. because who would want to miss out on that kind of fun?! You see Black Friday means getting up at 4 to begin the shopping (which basically lasts for a whole month!), pulling out the Christmas decorations, and wrapping my house in pure enchantment and cheer for the whole month!

So, thank you Fall, for coming, because to me, that means Christmas is almost ready to pop it's lovely head into my life again!

So... I have a new obsession! Usually when I see crafty things... instead of buying I just think... hmm I could make that! Well.. these I think I've decided would be worth buying. I mean.. they look like they take some REAL artistic talent!

Disney on the brain...

So, I've been thinking that it would be fun to let Allie experience the magic of Disney World! A few reasons I think she may be ready?

1. We've been teaching her to pray... on a very 2 year old level.. You know.. Thanking Jesus for Mommy, Daddy, Piercey, other family members, food, etc. When driving down the road the other day, I heard her privately praying.. "and, thank you for ariel, thank you for ariel, thank you for ariel, and thank you for snow white..." (every once in a while, she'll throw in a "thank you for the phone...." hmm.. mommy's girl, indeed.)

2. When reading her Bible story to her today about the birth of Jesus, I asked her a few questions afterwards. When I asked her what Jesus' mommy's name was, she replied "Ariel". Then, when I said the Angels sang songs, I asked her to sing a song, and she belted out her best rendition of "Beauty and the Beast"....

3. In the "Mickey Store" today, she proceeded to blow kisses to all of her favorite stuffed animals before I could drag her out of the store.

So, is she ready to fully appreciate the experience? I'd say so! (the fact that we seriously need to work on separating spiritual matters and Disney princesses is a whole other issue entirely...)

Inspiration!

Usually I don't have trouble with this sort of thing... I mean normally my poor little brain is planning and scheming months in advance. Yes, normally, it just isn't normal that I'm planning details about events sometimes a full year before they actually happen (I mean really.. I've been worry about our Christmas schedule for a few months now, when I realized that Christmas is on Sunday this year, and we usually have 4 different stops to make NOT counting church....)

But here I was just weeks before poor Piercey's birthday with no grand idea or inspiration or theme of any sort. Poor Pierce. I just wrote it off as normal 2nd child syndrome. Let's just do a simple low key celebration. We'll just go theme-less and have boyish colors... and that'll be that.

Then, it hit me!

The OBVIOUS answer, of course, for a family who is football obsessed and one, in which every person feels very strongly about one of these teams, and for a boy's birthday, who will inevitably fall around this important 3rd weekend of September each year... yes the same weekend that these two rivals battle it out year after year. Of course, Pierce should have a Florida/TN tailgating party. When you think about it, there's just really no other option! =)

So, as you can imagine, once inspiration hit... the ideas quickly began to flow! Of course, Allie is already a "gator girl" at heart, like her mama, so she will, naturally be sporting her cheerleading outfit to the party, but I've generously decided to allow Pierce to go to the "dark side" and sport orange and white, like a true daddy's boy. Especially, since I found him a jersey with a 1 one it! So, stay tuned for the big day, because pictures are sure to be cute! =)

BUSY!

I realize that I have been the world's worst blogger as of late... and I guess that deserves a little explanation!

It's not so much that I've had a lack of topics to cover... it's just that, well, in this busy stage I've tried to pick and choose wisely where my time will be spent, and quite simply, the blog hasn't made it to the top of the list lately. So, I'm not really apologizing for that or making any concrete promises to do better. But, I will do my best to still update on what's going on with us, for those who still care to follow!

So... What's been happening??

Work.

I've been investing much of my "free time" ie: naptime into work. I work for my mom, helping her with her jewelry business, which, in turn, inspired me to join in on the jewelry venture, myself! I've surprisingly REALLY loved it, but I'm still trying to get into the routine of being successful, without being pushy; being productive, without stressing myself; finding time to send the kids away to work on it a little, without interupting my time too much with them; learning how to fit this into our schedule, without it overtaking it. ETC. Like I said, I am loving it and I am getting into a routine, but I want to make very strict boundaries to let this enhance our lives and not take away from living. I wanted to do it just for some extra fun money, but I do have dreams of building the business, because I do know first hand how successful people can be at it. I just want to pace myself to get there, because after all, I don't want it to take away one bit from living and enjoying my sweet kiddos.

That brings me to number 2, Kids.

These kids are keeping me busy, full time, for sure, but it is such a wonderful kind of busy! They are both so much fun and growing up so fast! Pierce weighs at least as much as Allie, is more daring than her (minus her jumping out of her crib a few days ago...), and probably eats more than both of us combined! He is ALL boy, and is such a joy. Allie is on the other hand, ALL girl and equally a joy, but also daily a challenge! She is very sweet and loving, but sure does love to push the limits. She always has a song on her heart and happily sings at the top of her lungs throughout the day. My favorite is one she learned from VBS. It's supposed to go: He's wild, God is Wild about YOU! Somehow, she just came away with: He's Wild. God is Wild. Which she loves to sing in her loudest voice as we stroll through stores. Nice. I do admit that while I look forward to nap time each day to actually be productive (and, hopefully shower), I equally look forward to spending time with these two bundles of joy. Children truly are a blessing from the Lord.

Fun.

My true bit of fun these days is the gym. No, I'm not saying this sarcastically. And, I know this is weird. It's the one time of day that I have a little "grown up time" and I really am LOVING working out as hard as I can and coming away completely drenched in sweat. It's just hard to beat it! =)

Another bit of fun has been taking on couponing. Now, don't be too impressed or anything. I certainly do not catagorize myself as an extreme couponer or even a serious one. I don't make any extra trips to the store, or go to any other stores than kroger, and I CERTAINLY don't go dumpster diving (like one of my friends) to find extra copies of the weekly coupons. But, I do make sure to buy 1 or 2 sunday papers each week and clip the coupons that come in the "junk" ads in the mail, and load kroger coupons online to my kroger plus card. And, I somewhat try to combine sales with the coupons (if it somewhat fits in with my list). So, no we're not getting $1000 worth of groceries for free, but so far, our highest savings has been $70 in one shopping trip, and I'll take it!

Projects.

One other project I've been working on has been a fun weight loss competition for my mom and some friends. There's a blog, money at stake, weekly weigh ins, etc. and everyone is staying so motivated, and it is definitely working! It started 2 months ago and runs until my mom's 50th birthday! I'm excited to see everyone's results by the end! AND, so far mom is in 2nd place overall, which is pretty great, since out of everyone in the competition, she started out with the least to lose!

So, there you have it! Consider yourself updated, and please, don't feel slighted that my mind has been in other places than here, because well, I can't promise that it's going to get much better... =)

Just "Roll" With It....

Who knew that a child could be so picky with a pacifier. I mean... naturally a gator pacifier is something to get excited about... but really, Pierce? That's really the ONLY pacy that will work for ya?!

I tried all the popular brands when he was little, but he just didn't care for them. Then, alas, I pulled out a gator pacy we received as a gift... and voila! Pierce was hooked! We had two... then I lost one on vacation. Uh oh... it's a very nerve racking thing to only have one pacifier that will work. Well, amazingly we kept up with it very carefully for the first 10 months of dear Pierce's life, until, inevitably our lucky streak ended 3 days ago. It is gone. Not out and about, mind you... but here in this house! We put him to bed with it, and the next day it was gone. We tore his room apart looking for it... but to no avail. With any normal pacifier... this problem could be easily resolved by running to any local store and picking up a new pack (we surely went through countless packs with Allie...). But no, these can only be found at the sports store at the mall. So, after a very sleepless night, I headed to the mall only to find that IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED! I drove across town to the only other store in the area to find even worse news... there was ONE left... but not a gator one. One with a big fat Alabama "A" on it. GROSS. Well, sometimes, you just have to "roll with it", I suppose. After all, a restful night is worth the trade off for this tacky and horrible pacifier, I guess.

On a better note... I found 2 .... assumably the last two in the world (or at least on the internet, any way) on ebay. For a mere $12.94, they'll hopefully be delivered to our house sometime between July 23-25. We will once again be at peace with the world... and will NOT be supporting the crimson tide.

I'm having a Scentsy party this weekend for a friend of mine from church and am really looking forward to it! I know many of you have heard me talk about Scentsy before in my ruthless marketing of Christmas in the Valley! But, let me just say it again.... I LOVE SCENTSY! So, after you make the initial investment of the burner, these are MUCH cheaper in the long run to maintain than purchasing candles all the time.

Im not sure how many of you are aware of my insanely unhealthy fear of snakes... but to give you a little insight... I'll say this...3 years ago we had a snake in our back yard. Since then, I could count on two hands the number of times I ventured back into the "wild terrain" off is the deck. Pathetic, yes. I blame it on a visit to my dads one summer when baby water moccasins invaded the house. I think 18 were found in all. Yep, that was enough to scar me for life.

Well, I'm happy to say that a few weeks ago I decided that this fear was certainly not of the Lord, and I overcame it! After all, I didn't want my fear crippling the kids from having all sorts of outdoor adventures! I'm so glad I did!

Allie, I can't even wrap my mind around the fact that you are TWO! It is true that you are our little princess! You light up our lives with your silliness, your laughter, and your girlie girl ways! With your love of princesses, jewelry, singing, and makeup, it was only fitting that you have a Princess birthday party to celebrate your special day! I love you my precious little girl, and I look forward to seeing you grow and become the special girl that God made you to be!

Going on any sort of vacation with two kids under two seemed a little daunting to me, but despite the normal things that you would expect would come along with that, I'd say this vacation was a total success! We had an AMAZING time, and I'm already missing that beautiful water, sand, and sun! Allie had a blast! And, while it probably won't go down in my book as the most relaxing vacation I've ever been on... it is definitely one of the best! I am also very thankful we had family there as "reinforcements" to help us out! =)

I bought several toys for the car ride to entertain allie....not because she doesn't enjoy car rides.... she thoroughly does. She enjoys seeing just how far she can push her vocal cords and practices all of her favorite tunes at the top of her lungs. And, when she tires of the words, she will simply add in her own.

I thought a whole pad of Cinderella color wonder paper and markers would provide the kind of distraction from singing that we would inevitably need on our 9 hr car ride.

Wrong.

Allie is coloring away and happily narrating in song form .... ie color, allie, yellow, allie; Rella, color. You get the idea.

It was worth a shot, I suppose!

Tell me that these two cans don't look similar. I'm here to tell you the contents are quite different.

This morning I grabbed what I thought was the scrubbing bubbles, and was feeling quite the sense of accomplishment as I happily gave the bathrooms a long overdue cleaning. I mean, sure I noticed that it smelled a little unusual, but I figured we must have grabbed a new scent at the store.

So, there I was drenching the entire bathroom in this stuff, when hubby, who can smell the fumes from the other end of the house rushes in to see if I've gone insane.

Apparently I have.

This I can say with certainty.... our entire house may wreak... but we should be bug free for quite a while!

Worked out for 8 hours straight (well, there were a few breaks in there)?

Until today, neither had I. I am now officially a certified Turbo Kick instructor, and I've even got the t-shirt to prove it... oh yea and a certificate, which should be coming in the mail in a few weeks.

An Interesting Development...

Well, I know I told you about joining my wonderful gym back in January...

There's a new development to that situation. In two short weeks from Saturday, I'll be certified to TEACH Turbo Kick!

Yes, you can laugh. It won't hurt my feelings one bit. I'm laughing a bit too each time I think about it... laughing... then really really hoping I don't look like TOO much of an idiot (because, let's face it, I'm sure that it's inevitable that I'll look like an idiot at least a little bit).

It all started back when one of the instructors from the gym talked about how they go on "teaching vacations" for FREE to all inclusive resorts.. Naturally, my ears perked up at the idea of a free vacation. But, I quickly closed my mind to the idea, because after all, ME becoming an aerobics instructor!? Well, I then found out you only have to go to a one day 8 hour workshop to do this... hmm... and THEN, I found out that such a workshop was coming to OUR gym on April 9. It was tempting, but I had decided against doing it JUST for the sake of the free trip.

Then, someone from church suggested that I do it and help start an aerobics program at Faith. I realized that this would be a terrific ministry, because it has been such a WONDERFUL encouragement to me to have a Christian environment with women only where we can fellowship, workout, and pray for each other!

Well, I decided to look into it a bit more, and here we are. Starting in June, I'll be teaching Turbo Kick at Faith on Saturday mornings. There will also be a Pilates class offered on Tuesday mornings.

So, back to the part of that story where I said all you have to do is complete a one day, 8 hour workshop.... hmmm... I think that will be MUCH easier said than done. Here's to hoping my poor body will be able to handle 8 hours of Turbo Kick.

I'm gonna try to really kick it up a notch between now and then to hopefully be in as good of shape as possible!

My Best Friend's Wedding

We had a crazy, busy, fun, exciting, and very special week last week as we celebrated Steph and Stew's wedding! I've been dear friends with Stephanie since middle school, and it was so exciting to stand by her side on her special day! She even asked sweet Allie to be in the wedding!

I know I may be a little biased, but I mean, really, isn't she the cutest flower girl ever?!

And, lest you think that Pierce doesn't ever get any blog space (ahem, Cheryl...) he even got all spiffed up for the day! Isn't he a cutie?

meltdown

Today was one of those dreaded days when you are that mom. Picture yourself going for a peaceful shopping trip to Target, happily going about your business, looking at the wonderful summer clothes out and daydreaming about the hopefully soon-coming weather where you can wear them, when all of the sudden both kids decide at precisely the same moment that they want to go home - NOW.

Yes, if you were at Target today and heard two kids having an all out screaming at the top of their lungs meltdown and wondering from across the store, who is that woman that cannot keep her kids under control... it was me. And, when I say meltdown, I mean MELTDOWN... one that, for Allie, not even uncensored access to Cinderella lipgloss could fix (which, trust me, if you knew her, you would know that this is saying ALOT!)

I knew there was only one thing to do... RUN. No trying on clothes, no browsing, no stopping to go to the bathroom (which I DESPERATELY needed to do..) I barely had time to go through the checkout and pay for the lipgloss that we had already opened! (but, I figured we shouldn't repeat the hobby lobby shoplifting incident... which by the way, I have since resolved) You see, people already stare at me when we go out.... they see Allie in the front, then see an infant in the back in his carseat, and just simply think I am insane. And, that's when they're both being good. So, I decided I had better get out of there fast before people started just being downright nasty. The minute both kids were successfully loaded in the car, the crying subsided. Hmmm..

Upon getting in the car, I was flustered to say the least. But I was promptly reminded that if these sort of things are the worst "trials" that I am currently experiencing, then I am certainly blessed. Was reading this precious little girl's story this morning and with tears in my eyes was overwhelmed with gratitude for hectic days such as this one with my two precious healthy kids.

Vlogging...

I ran across a new term the other day... "vlogging". It means: video blogging. That's right... apparently it's the new thing to sit in front of your video camera and chat it up.. just like a blog post, except you're essentially just sitting there talking to yourself. Seems a bit weird to me. And, who knows, maybe some people could pull it off and not come across totally awkward, but I think that would probably be the rare exception. So, don't worry, I will not be giving vlogging a try, because I can say with strong confidence that I would look and sound very awkward and be completely unable to find any interesting to say in such a situation.

Yesterday, however, in my car the thought came to my mind to vlog. There I was riding happily along, listening to K-Love, hearing Allie in the back intermittently singing "Jesus Loves Me" and her own rendition of "Rella, Rella, Rella" (since, you know, she's on a nickname basis with Cinderella) at the top of her lungs, while Pierce, who is normally a happy camper in the car decided that yesterday he simply was not and screamed as loud as he could for a solid 20 minutes. I kept thinking, surely he will scream himself out. He didn't. So, yes, the thought crossed my mind, that if I wouldn't be a danger to everyone else on the road by pulling out my phone to capture this scene on video, that maybe it would be an interesting vlog titled: a day in our completely insane life.

It wasn't until I had 2 that I became one of those moms who is able to somehow tune the craziness out (at least sometimes). I had to laugh and think, if anyone else was in the car with us right now, they'd probably be about ready to go insane.

The aquarium in Atlanta was amazing! From getting to pet sharks and sting rays, to seeing the begula whales, to seeing the shockingly large whale sharks, which measured in at a hefty 25 feet long- it was pretty incredible!

This guy had a good 10 foot wing span! Can you imagine running into one of those in the ocean?? Well, for a mere $295, you can swim with these lovely creatures for a few hours! Yes, that's in the same tank with the 4 whale sharks!! Umm, no thank you, Georgia aquarium. I think I'll pass on that!

I love my kids. Honestly, I truly do! I adore them and couldn't and wouldn't want to imagine life without them.

Despite that fact, I realized Eric and I haven't had a "getaway" without them since before Allie was born, and I am SOO excited to say that this weekend we are heading to Atlanta, KID FREE! We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary! And, while, we are only going for 3 short days(because, I mean, really, that's already quite a lot to ask of our parents), I intend on those being some pretty terrific, fun-filled, and RELAXING days! Can't wait!

Easier Said Than Done

Yesterday Allie was looking awfully cute in her Valentine attire that Mimi gave her, so I thought, well I need to get a cute picture of her. Well, let me just tell you... it's tough getting a cute pic of this on-the-go little thing!

At first, she was totally appathetic to the idea...

Then, I tried to make it fun by jumping in myself, hoping this might entice her. However, looking back, even if she had attempted a cute smile, I'm afraid my makeup-less face would've negatively impacted the picture anyway...

Then, she at least gave it a try, but of the course the snap of the camera was a few seconds to late, resulting in this:

Finally, I got one that at least looked sweet!

And, then, hours later, just before bedtime, I FINALLY captured her in all of her cute, smiling goodness! Happy Valentine's!

Wow!

There are days when I get so overwhelmed. Not sure what it is about those days that are especially overwhelming... but they do come from time to time. Sometimes, it may be a sick child, or being stuck at home all day, or maybe even something (however small it may be) added into my already-too-packed day.

I know that some of you probably think I am totally a wimp. I mean, there are those of you who have 3, 4, maybe even more kids and probably have things much more under control than me. I really don't deny that I am a wimp in that respect. My sweet kids being so close together isn't something I ever envisioned myself tackling. It's good, though, because it is an ever present reminder that I am constantly needing God to step in. Shouldn't we feel that need all the time? It seems like we get things so under control that we lose the desperate need for Him in our every day routine. Instead, we fail to see the need until disaster falls, or heartbreak comes, or things get overwhelming.

I feel that pretty much at any given point in my day, things very well could step over into the land of "overwhelming". So, yes, it's during those times when it is painfully obvious that I need God for extra patience, for extra energy, for understanding, for kind responses, etc. My prayer is that I remember to rely on him when "overwhelming" comes my way, instead of trying to push through on my own.

Tax REFUNDS, that is! Right after Christmas, tax time may just be my most favorite time of the year. I do our taxes and thoroughly enjoy it. Probably mainly due to the fact that we never have had to pay in, and due to our decreasing wages (due this being the first year for us to file where I didn't work a single day) and increasing number of kiddos, the IRS just keeps giving us more and more and more. I am one happy girl tonight.

Sorry for the lack of posting these past few weeks. It seems like when you go a few days without posting, it's really easy to turn it into a few more days, then a few more without even thinking about it. So what have I been doing with all my free time?

Well, actually quite a lot! I recently started doing some work for my mom, which has taken up most of my "computer" time that I have during the day (aka: time when both kids are asleep, and I've already done things like laundry, dishes, showering, etc. that I usually do when they're asleep... so, yes, computer time is often few and far between).

And then, there's been the gym to occupy my mornings. This has actually proved to be something I LOVE! It's been such a nice thing to be able to go do! I mean, trust me, I DO love my sweet kids, but it really has been a nice thing to have an hour break and get to do a fun workout class! Even if the inches don't start melting away, I'm really enjoying it! But, don't get me wrong.... I REALLY do hope they start the melting process soon! =)

I've also been spending lots of time with P & A! Allie is so into playing right now and has been a lot of fun! She is all about the Princesses (which in her mind are all named "Rella"... you know, short for Cinderella...) In fact, aunt Breezy bought her a Rella barbie today, and she is one happy girl! The past month or so she's been talking in phrases a lot more, which is fun. She is also a singer at heart (like her momma, but maybe she'll actually have a singer's voice, instead of just the love to sing! ha!) Her favorite is Jesus Loves Me (belted at the top of her lungs - especially when we're in the car or I'm on the phone...)!

This past weekend Ang and I were able to go visit my grandfather in Florida, as he is in his last days before going home to be with the Lord. It was a very sweet visit. Emotional, but very good. We brought both babies along for the ride, and they did absolutely GREAT! I was a little nervous about taking Pierce on a plane, but he slept the whole way up and back. I'm sure when people saw us loading the plane together with 2 infants they were a little nervous, though!

So, there you have it. That's what we've been up to lately.

Today I joined a gym.

Prior to a few days ago, I never really envisioned those words coming from my mouth. I mean, I like working out as much as the next stay-at-home-mom (with 2 kids under 2 and NO spare time).

I mean, it's not that I didn't feel like I NEEDED to work out. TRUST ME, when I look at this war torn body in the mirror (and by war torn, I mean a body that has basically been ripped apart piece by piece during those 18 months of being pregnant in a 2 year time period), I am ALL TOO aware that it needs some major working out. It's simply that it didn't really feel like an option. Not unless you're one of those people, who simply live for working out, and would do whatever it takes to get babysitters, pay a fortune for gym memberships, buy top-of-the-notch double running strollers, etc., etc. to do what it takes to make it happen.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm not so much one of those.

But, luckily for me, I found out about a gym this week that has come to my rescue! Central Church has an amazing gym, whose membership fee of $100 dollars/year includes FREE childcare Mon-Fri from 9:15-11:30, FREE classes (which are my very fav thing to do, working-out-wise), and awesome facilities. I mean, for $100/year, it's well worth it in child care alone! Have fussy kids? Stressed out and need a break? What better motivation to go to the gym than to be able to drop off your kids and get a break!? (Just kidding... sort of..)

At any rate, I am very excited about my new endeavor, and while I won't be so brave to list my weight so bravely and publicly, like Candace, I will say, that even though I'm basically back to my pre-Pierce-baby weight, I still have a ways to go to get back to pre-Allie-baby-weight. Between gaining an unsightly amount in that pregnancy and only having 6 months between pregnancies, I just didn't have the time to work it all off. So, here's to a successful new year as an official gym-goer. Maybe, just maybe one day this body will be back to normal! =)

Oh, yeah, and I should add that I am quite confident that I will not be able to move tomorrow!

You Know You're Adjusting Well When:

You find yourself walking into Target, both kids in hand (yes, that's right... Allie in one arm, Pierce in his carseat, in the other), diaper bag on one shoulder (overflowing with an extra outfit for each kid, diapers in both of their sizes, wipes enough for both, a bottle and sippy cup, oh, yeah, and of course my wallet, keys, etc.) and all the while, happily carrying on a phone conversation with the phone perfectly wedged between your ear and shoulder, so it doesn't drop.

Yes, when you feel like this scene is normal, you have officially adjusted to life with 2. =)

(I should mention here that it wasn't until I got the kids loaded back into the car that I realized that I failed to get the diapers for P that were the whole reason behind the trip to Target in the first place)

A Wonderful Christmas!

Well, Christmas morning came, and although the sickness wasn't totally gone, we were feeling MUCH better, which was a HUGE blessing! We really had a wonderful Christmas in every way! We were able to spend time with family, enjoy the kids, pulled off some great gift surprises, and got so many great things ourselves! Whew, but were we worn out when it was all over!

I even remembered to take pictures this year (if you will remember, by the end of the day last year, I hadn't taken any, and was quite sad about it!)

Here is Allie opening up her first gift. She went on to carry that bag around as purse all night, and had much more fun with it than the gifts that were inside! =)

We were all occupied with our gifts, and Allie felt like she'd take advantage of the situation! She is happily entertaining herself with all of the contents of mimi's wallet!

And, of course we can't forget little Rudolph!

Here's the whole fam on Christmas night. If we look a little rough, please remember that we were sick, going on little sleep, and on gathering #4 for the day. I'd say we were doing pretty good, all things considered!

What a wonderfully full day! Our schedule may be a bit crazy, but we're so glad to be able to spend Christmas with both our families every year! We love them all and are so blessed! Our kids were also pretty much as perfect as they could've been! So, despite the yucky sickness, we had a wonderful and blessed Christmas! I hope you did too!

An upgrade.

Well, I've now traded my spot from laying in bed all day and upgraded myself to sitting on the couch! After 4 days of being in bed, with no makeup, hair brushing, sore throat, achy, fevers of 102+, I'd say this is something to celebrate, despite the fact that's its Christmas eve and I'm STILL sick! (And for those curious, I'm flu and strep free.. just some other infection) The good news is that I only have a few more hours to go until I've been fever free for 24 hrs! Yay!

The bad news? Hubby has taken over my spot on the bed and is not quite so fever free.

So, I figure, as long as I'm not contaminating people, why let a silly thing like knife-shooting pain in my throat wreck my most favorite day of the year? I think ill just have to toughen up and push through it! Hopefully tomorrow ill be looking a little better than today!

Sick

This has been my view from my bed for the past two days now, and let me say I'm very grateful to be able to lay here and at least enjoy Christmas in the form of movies, since I'm missing out on our family Christmas festivities. Tonight, the crummy sickness is causing me to miss Christmas lights in the limo bus with my family. Being sick at christmas time just plain stinks. I am, however, immensely grateful to family who have been helping me with my kiddies. Here's to hoping I get better REALLY soon. It's just hard to enjoy your favorite time of year when you feel just plain miserable.

A Pictureless Post

Yesterday I put allie down for a nap in her adorable Christmas nightgown. The downside to this nightgown is that she apparently discovered that her diaper was easily accessible.

So, you can see where this story is headed... Yep, I find her in her crib diaperless in a puddle of pee. I should note here that we were playing with stickers before bedtime. So, there allie was naked and apparently ashamed, because instead of a fig leaf, she made do with what she had and covered herself there with a big pink flower sticker. What a sight! But I'm sure you see now why, unfortunately this had to be a pictureless post!

A Productive Day:

I've come to the realization that this is all relative. You, for instance, may complete a large project, make a gourmet meal, do spring cleaning, run loads of errands, etc. in order to consider it a productive day. What does a productive day look like for us in this stage of life?

Well, let me share. Today, I:

Cleaned the bathrooms for the first time in about a month. (can anyone say gross?)
Did laundry for the first time in over a week.
Took a shower for the first time in TWO days.
And, maybe, just maybe might be about to take a nap for the first time in what seems like a year!

Productive? I'd say so!

Disclaimer: I know that you are sitting there with all sorts of judgmental thoughts pouring through your head right now regarding my uncleanliness, but you are definitely not allowed to judge unless of course, you find yourself in this same stage of having young ones. And, if you are, and try to tell me that you've never experienced a day or two without bathing or clean clothing, well then I'd just say you are most likely one big fat liar! =)

I just figured I'd take this opportunity to introduce you to sweet baby Graham Luce! Now, I'm sure you've been cutting Ang some slack, thinking, well that's ok that you haven't updated your blog... you are probably overwhelmed with the newness of being a household of 5, and just trying to get sleep while you can, and blogging is the last thing on your mind... Well, don't be fooled my friends, yes, she has been busy since their homegoing, but not so much around the house. In typical Angie style, they've been out and about running errands, going to my family's and the inlaws' homes, etc. So, yes, she apparently has been too busy to introduce Graham to the blogging world, just probably not the busy you were imagining! So, I'd say it's safe to say that mom, baby, and family are adjusting quite well to being a family of 5!

Graham was born on December 10, weighing in at a respectable 6 lbs. 11 oz. While he was only a pound below his cousin at birth, I'm afraid that Pierce is at least DOUBLE his size now! YIKES! Hopefully that will not hold true throughout their lives!

Allie is all about her hair, makeup, and jewelry these days! We just bought her a play makeup, curling iron, and battery operated blow dryer set, and she has pretty much abandoned all other toys to devote her time to these the past few days. She will happily brush or dry your hair for you at any time, whether you need her to or not (brother has the bump on his little bald head to prove it...)

Hopefully we haven't created a monster... =)

My Hero

5 Years ago today, I can remember so vividly being woken up by the phone ringing in the wee hours of the morning. I didn't have to hear who was on the other line. I knew what the phone call meant. I immediately jumped out of bed, got dressed, and headed downstairs to embark on the ominous journey to Baptist East. The phone call meant it was time. By the time we arrived at the hospital, the doctor met us in the deserted halls to give us the news. He was gone. My Papa had breathed his last breaths and had left his earthly body and was now with Jesus. My heart could hardly bear the news. We knew, though, by this point, that it was all but inevitable. We had said our goodbyes. Still, you are never ready for such a thing.

While our lives these past 5 years since then have been full and blessed, his presence has and always will be greatly missed. He was, in all respects of the term, the life of the party. He was the kind of person that you could just sit and listen to for hours, because he was truly that entertaining and compelling. But, he, unlike some, didn't simply just talk on for hours, (don't get me wrong, he could talk...) but he was also always sincerely interested in YOU. This was the same whether you were a young preacher, an important politician, or a 5 year old granddaughter. He was sincere, and he made you feel special, because to him, you were. Knowing how much time he made for his family, it is simply amazing to me to have read countless stories from preachers all over the world of the personal time he made for them, too. We were certainly never slighted by this fact. No, he was the kind of grandfather that you could call, and say, "Papa, can you take me shopping and buy me an Easter dress?" And, he would clear his schedule and go shopping with you for several hours and wait patiently as you tried on dress after dress, and act interested. =) He was the kind of grandfather that came up with all kinds silly games to play with his grandchildren. Whether it be songs, stories, secret clubs, or countless other things, time with Papa was always a treasure. He was also the kind of grandfather who you knew genuinely cared - when you were happy or when you were heartbroken (no matter how trivial the matter), he was right there rejoicing or grieving with you.

His life was a testimony to us. He did not have to preach to us at home (although, we did have many Bible studies around the breakfast table) to preach to us. His life was an example. It is because of this, that I am constantly challenged in my marriage, in my family, and my relationships with Christ and with others to follow his example. He was an optimist through and through, he was warm, genuine, and loving. He was fun, creative, and silly. There is simply no one like Papa. He was one of a kind, but my hope is that I can live each day and remember, not only his rock solid stand for following Christ, but also his love for others and for life.

He is my hero. He is and always will be missed. And, while it is true that he was one of a kind and simply irreplaceable, these words, written by Kie Bowman, a pastor in Texas, is such a beautifully written reminder, that he indeed invested his life in so many of ours, and in turn, his legacy will forever live on in those he invested in.

"Adrian Rogers was a hero. He was a hero to the thousands who called him "pastor" and a hero to thousands of preachers who found a mentor and a model for their own ministries. And he was a hero to me. I join thousands who will miss him.There will be those times when our preachers, our denomination and even our nation will need him, but he has gone to be with Jesus. More importantly, perhaps, is the fact that when we need his heroic prophetic vision, courage and voice, we will see him and feel him and hear him in the lives in which he invested.Adrian Rogers was one of a kind. We are not likely to see anyone quite like him again soon. He was a preacher, a statesman, a warrior, a mentor, a giant, a leader, a true friend, but most of all Adrian Rogers was a hero. May God bless us all for having known him. We know what God has already said to Dr. Rogers early one Tuesday morning, but we want to add our echo, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

I am proud and blessed to know that his legacy will continue to live on through me and my family. My prayer is that we're able to teach our children about their Papa, and, although they won't have the privilege of knowing him this side of heaven, I pray that the way we raise them is so colored by his presence in our lives that his legacy will live on for generations to come. It brings a smile to my face to already hear little Allie in the backseat whenever Papa's voice comes on over the cd player saying, "Papa, Papa!"

Apparently A LOT!

I never really have trouble with coming up with a nice, long Christmas wish list! No, my problem is always in honing it down! Maybe this is because I'm often quite cheap during the year and don't splurge a lot, so my list just adds up from January to November... or maybe I'm just extremely materialistic, so judge for yourself. At any rate, I do, in fact, also LOVE gift GIVING every bit as much as I love the receiving! There's nothing better than to carefully and thoughtfully handpick out gifts that you KNOW will both surprise and delight your gift recipient! So, for those of you who have asked for gift cards in the past, forgive me if I've bawked at the idea.... I'm trying to get better about that, but somehow it just takes a bit of the joy out of it for me...

I know that many of you are already nearing the end of your Christmas shopping, but I really enjoy dragging mine out throughout the entire holiday season! There's nothing more festive than fighting the crowds, getting the deals, and listening to Christmas music along the way! We'll see how festive all of that will seem this year... as I can imagine the festivity will someone be diminished when fighting the crowds with the double stroller, two kids in tow, and the potential of one or both throwing a tantrum at any given moment!

Perhaps this is why I've been doing some "online window shopping" during my moments of peace and quiet (which, have I mentioned are few and far between... haha).

Here are a few items on my list....

FOR ME:

This item, I consider to be more a necessity than a pure need. Our everyday dishes are as cute as can be, but totally impractical. If they are heated in the microwave for so much as 1 minute, they will scald you, literally, if you touch them within 5 minutes. They've also chipped like crazy, and I'm just sad to say, it's time for the red dishes to go. I've been searching long and hard for new ones... and this is what I've found. The price is right, the look is beautiful, and last but certainly not least, the reviews give it great ratings on microwave functionality! Where could you purchase such a thing for me? Well, since you asked, right here! I'll need 3 sets in all, and it's just your lucky day, since Walmart (yes, I know, can't believe I found them there of all places...) has just marked them for FREE SHIPPING!

This one is really an anytime appreciated gift! I LOVE pedicures, but usually just don't get them unless I've gotten a gift card for one! My place of choice? Well, anywhere will do, but my favorite nail place just happens to be Eric's Nails! Ha! It is literally within walking distance from our house, and I love the nail techs there!

Spa products from BeautiControl are always a nice treat as well! I also asked for massage gift certificate(s) from LTS massage at Christmas in the Valley. I wonder what it says about me that MOST of the items on my list involve pampering myself one way or another? Hmm...

This one, I'm very much hoping to get as well! It's a wallet/cell phone holder/wristlet. You could take it by itself, attach it to the diaper bag, or throw it in your purse (on the rare occasion that I can actually take a purse somewhere... what with one and sometimes two diaper bags that we tote around...)

I think she'd simply love this Baby Alive doll from Target that eats and giggles!

And, I was looking to get her some simple refrigerator magnets, when my friend, Karlye, told me about this! It's magnetic, and you match the animals, and it plays songs, animal noises, etc. She would LOVE this!

And, FOR PIERCE:

Well, the poor guy doesn't need much, but I always wanted to get one of these for Allie, but never did. I think it'd be a huge help! It goes in the crib (or wherever) and plays music, lights, etc. to help them fall asleep! In my book, anything that aids a baby in going to sleep is a very wonderful present!

So, there you have it, lots of ideas (even though you didn't actually ask for them), but you've got them now, just the same! I can't wait for the holiday season to officially begin in just a few short weeks!

And, on that note, I think I hear a baby crying, so I better go see which one it is! =)

Back into the swing of things...

Well, we made it through Christmas in the Valley, and it was a HUGE success! Eric even survived a day of taking care of both kiddos, which, as you well know from my previous post, is no easy task!

Since my last post so vividly described with words the craziness of our day to day lives, I thought it'd be appropriate to show pics of our daily lives, which capture the cuteness more so than the craziness!

Whenever Pierce is within reach, Allie is not far away! Thus, the days of leaving the baby unattended on the floor are out the door. While she wouldn't intentionally hurt him, she's all about kisses and hugs (which often involve trying to crawl on top of him!) She is one very sweet big sissy!

We've also been doing a lot of going to the park, the zoo, Big Back Yard, etc. Pierce does really well sleeping the day away in our wonderful, double-stroller monstrosity, leaving plenty of time for Allie to play her little heart out! (can you tell I've got a love-hate relationship with this thing - afterall, although it makes it nearly impossible to shop at some places, gets me lots of stares, and sometimes hardly makes it through doorways, leaving the house would be virtually impossible without it! don't get me wrong, as far as doubles go, this one is top of the line... I just never envisioned myself as the double-stroller type!)

I am thankful that he is still in the sleeping-most-of-the-day-stage, but I'm also thankful for the times of alertness, when I can see this cute little face!

Yes, Christmas in the Valley is just 2 DAYS AWAY, but really, I think I've said just about all there is to say about that, so today, I decided to give you a little update on "a day in the life" of our crazy world!

I know many of you are probably thinking, wow, how do you do it? You've got two kids 15 months apart, and you're planning this craft fair, and you seem to have it all together (well... those of you who see me on a regular basis, already know that isn't true). But, for the rest of you, I decided to give you a peek into what life is really like.

Yes, with two precious kiddos comes great joys! There are the first smiles and coos from little bit, and the sweet and crazy new things precious allie is doing and saying each day....

But there are also days where:

You realize that you haven't done laundry in over a week and everyone in the house is about to run out of clean clothes... so when you complete a load and realize a diaper was indeed washed in the load with the clothes, you decide to wipe off the "diaper lint", hope it was an unused one, and move on rather than rewashing that load.

There are also days where you discover that the days of shopping at Hobby Lobby that were once joyous have turned into dread... afterall, you simply cannot fit both kids (one being in the carseat) in those teeny carts, so you must lug out the double stroller and load both kids up simply to run in to grab a few supplies for a craft project that you probably won't even have time to complete. The situation becomes more and more irritating when you leave the store to discover that it is indeed pouring down rain... so out you go, double stroller and all to load the kids back in the car. After you've successfully loaded all kids, stroller, and bags, you realize that due to the 1 yr old, you've accidentally become a shoplifter. It is at those times, where you say, "Who cares," because you are not about to load up the stroller and the kids in the rain to go back in the store to pay for stolen item. (Don't worry... I have the package in my wallet and will prompty pay for this $2 item on my next Hobby Lobby visit).

There are days when you really don't have a minute to sit down by yourself to just relax, so in an attempt to get a little rest, you just load your 1 yr old in the bath with you and let her play while you "relax".

There are days when you start to feel bad that in 7 weeks, you have YET to make a homecooked meal for your family... but then at 5 each day when both kids are crying, needing attention/bottles/sippy cups/diapers/etc.... you don't feel so bad about that fact, and you realize you just can't do it all.

There are days when you remember back to a time where you looked down on people who had kids toys strewn all over their house all the time. How hard is it to keep things picked up? Why would you want your living room turned into a playroom? Yes, you remember those days, as you look around your house that has toys and who knows what else strewn all over. Because, afterall, a toddler apparently needs lots of things to keep her entertained while you're feeding the baby.

There are also days when the greatest part of your day is discovering little things like DRY SHAMPOO, because, after all, taking a shower is just not something that is possible every day. (don't worry, though, it is possible MOST days!)

Some days things like these may tend to stress you out, but most days, you just accept that, for now, this is your life... it is full and it is blessed. There are definitely moments when I just tell God it's too much for me to handle, and He'll have to take over, and He does! And, of course, there are days when I joyfully accept the help of our wonderful mommas to help lighten the load, too.

Yes, things are crazy; yes, sometimes we just need a break from the madness! And, yes, sometimes I don't quite has the "roll with it" attitude that I'd like to. I'd love to pretend that I haven't lost it once or twice, but the fact is, I have. Yes, our life it a bit crazy. Yes, I knew it would be. But, all in all, we have a wonderful, full, fun kind of crazy that I just wouldn't trade for the world!

So, there you have it: A day in the life!

It’s a weight loss body wrap that you can use on your arms, neck, legs, or waist! You are supposed to lose around 2-3 inches and keep it off for several months!

I would have DEFINITELY chosen to do this when I saw it, but was pregnant at the time (Remember, that I was pregnant for 18 months out of the last 2 years!) and was told I couldn’t do it then. I was very disappointed, but am hoping to try it out at Christmas in the Valley. I know several people who did do it and after being measured before and after the process, said it worked! Tina wraps you, and you keep it on for about 30 minutes, then take it off, get measured and see the inches disappear before your eyes!

The wraps are normally $25, but she will be offering them for $20 at Christmas in the Valley! What a great way to lose a few inches in time for the holidays, when you’re normally putting them on! =)

Today’s Vendor Spotlight is another one of my favorites, BeautiControl! Rep. Niki Berry will be present and offering all kinds of great specials! Everything will be marked down from 25 to 75 % off! She’ll have all kinds of package deals, as well! These are perfect gift ideas and already come in cute packaging for you! How easy is that!?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with BeautiControl, they offer a wide variety of Spa and Makeup products! I think I have yet to come across a BC product that I DON’T like! Their spa products are simply to die for! I love nice, long relaxing baths, and let me tell you, my BC products are definitely a treat after a long day!

Last year I was also converted to BC’s makeup products! Before then, I was a mix and match makeup person. I’d do drugstore this, department store that, etc. I decided to have a BC makeup party with Niki after last year’s Christmas in the Valley, and thought I’d give it a try! Today’s Vendor Spotlight is LTS Massage by Kimberly Morris! If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a good massage! This is ALWAYS on my Christmas/Birthday/Mother’s Day/etc. gift wish list! There is just something about a good massage that leaves you walking away feeling like a new woman! =)

I went to Kimberly at LTS Massage for several prenatal massages, and boy, was she a lifesaver! I love a good, relaxing massage, but at the same time want it to be a good, deep massage! I always get so knotted up in my shoulders/upper back, and Kimberly was able to do wonders with my knots! I was so happy with her that I contacted her to see if she would be interested in participating in this year’s C in the V. To my great delight, she agreed!

Big Sis

Sweet Allie has been so good these past 2 weeks! She is so easy going and content. We had a few rough days last week when she was teething and not her pleasant self, but after we got through that, things have gone great!

I'm still not able to pick her up, so we've had lots of help, and we'll see how things go next week once we begin "real life" with both kids! Allie has enjoyed looking at Pierce and pointing out his hands, nose, mouth, and eyes (gotta be careful there, she tends to unknowingly just about poke your eyes out...) Other than that, she has just gone about her life as normal and hardly notices he's here.

We had Pierce's newborn pics taken yesterday, and we were able to get a few shots with Allie before she couldn't evade naptime any longer. While we didn't get many smiles out of her, we at least got a pleasant face, and when taking pics of a 16 month old and an infant, I guess that's all you can really hope for! I really like that you can see their big sis/little bro outfits!

Pierce's First Few Days

Sorry it's taken me a few days to update! Everything went just as smoothly as it could've! I'd say the worst two things of the whole day were the iv and the itchiness from the spinal. All in all, I figure, if that's as bad as it gets, then I came out pretty good!

The past few days have been busy, but good! Right now, I've pretty much had people with me nonstop, because, without being able to pick up Allie, I think it's too much to handle being alone with her and Pierce. We'll see how it goes in another week when I've got both of them by myself!

Pierce has been just as easy as Allie was! He basically sleeps all of the time, which is very nice! He's even done great at night! I'm definitely enjoying this phase while it lasts! Allie hasn't been too interested in him. Other than a few kisses and holding his hand for a few seconds at a time, she has basically carried on life as usual, ignoring his presence most of the time! She hasn't seemed jealous in the least bit, which is nice!

Here are some pics from the hospital. You'll just have to excuse my swollen, puffy, makeup-less face! We're having newborn pics taken on Monday, so hopefully I'll be able to post those sometime soon!

Our little guy was born this morning at 10:52. He weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long!

He is so precious and has slept through most of the day, including meeting his big sis! Don't worry, though, Allie was nearly as apathetic about the whole thing! Haha, I didn't really expect much else from her!

We're doing great and appreciate all your prayers today! If you wanna stop by to see our sweet little man, give us a call!

And we're ready to go! After a day of vigorous cleaning, packing, and errand running, we are completely ready to meet our little man first thing tomorrow morning!

We plan to arrive at the hospital at 7:30 and have the c section at 9:30, so soon after that, be on the lookout for an update!

P.S. A lady at target today told me I wasn't as crazy as her, because her kids were only 9 months apart. Wow.

Eric and I decided to go on a date night before Pierce makes his entrance into our world. Since the weather was so nice, we decided to head over to the Delta Fair to eat, walk around, watch the shows, and enjoy the crazy sights. I've always enjoyed going to the fair, and I'll admit, even though the Delta Fair isn't as big as the old Midsouth, it is MUCH nicer!

Eric's favorite part by far is always the food. He loves the BBQ, the turkey legs, and all the Sweet Tea! I'm usually torn between the trusty Chicken on a Stick and a Pronto Pup. Last night, I opted for the Pronto and some freshly squeezed lemonade and was not disappointed.

Then, as we were walking, one of the vendors called out to us and asked us to come over. Let me just warn you here: when someone does that at the fair, you should probably just keep on walking. The lady actually was trying to be very nice, and said that in my obviously pregnant state, she figured that maybe I would be the type of person who liked pickles. Now, she was speaking my language, because it just so happens that I LOVE pickles. Dill pickles, sweet pickles, and especially FRIED pickles! So, I started to get a little excited that maybe she was going to offer me a fair favorite - a big, juicy fried dill pickle. Much to my disappointment, I was offered something totally different:

The Pickle Sickle.

You know those Pop Ice popsicles that are fruit flavored? Well, this was that same idea, but it was frozen pickle juice! In case you are a pickle love and think you may should try this new fair delicasy, let me just help you out and say that this was not a good idea! Pickles, yes. Popsicles, yes. Mix the two ideas together, NO!

It was gross. But I waited a nice long way to throw it away, so the poor lady wouldn't see me. Luckily, I had my delicious lemonade to help rid my mouth of that taste!

My Latest Hobby

Word Wise aka Scrabble for your phone! Now, I know for all you iPhoners, Words With Friends has been around for a while, and this is nothing new to you, but this has been my latest favorite pasttime! Eric also picked up on the craze and downloaded Words w/Friends on his phone. Many evenings we sit here on the couch playing our different friends, family, and strangers on this fun and addictive game. Exciting, I know! Ha!

Maximum Capacity

Our house has undergone several transformations over the past few years. The first being when we received the news of sweet Allie's expected arrival about two years ago. I instantly began planning out her room. We decided to get rid of the guest bedroom, and keep a "playroom". I envisioned this to be the room where all of the overflow toys would go, as well as where our second tv would go, in those times when a second tv was needed (if a Cardinal's game was on.. and I wanted to watch something else, etc.). Well, to tell you the truth, we never even got the cable connection hooked up in that second room before we became aware of sweet Pierce's upcoming arrival. Hmm... no other option but to ditch the playroom/tv room and plan another nursery!

I have tried my best to creatively get the most out of all the space we have. For example, what better way to use our linen closet than for craft and sewing storage? Who sees those spaces under beds and cribs? No one. Why not pack them full of diapers, etc.? Haven't used things in several years? Put them in a box and send them to the attic! Don't have a playroom for the toy overflow? Clear out the built-ins, and wha-la! A giant toy box!

P.S. I may be ultra picky about things being picked up in all the places you CAN see, but that does not mean that organization in those places that you can't see are a priority to me! =)

Now, what about that tv room? Well, I know some are adamently against tv's in bedrooms. I always thought I was, too. Let me tell you, though, I have thoroughly enjoyed our decision to cut a hole in our wall and slap one up in place of our mirror! (Notice the butcher knife that was used...)
Allie seemed to like it, too! But, really, it has been nice to be able to watch something together while relaxing in bed. We certainly don't watch it every night, or need it to fall asleep, but I'd definitely say it was a good solution to our running out of space problem!

So, that brings me to the final room. Once we cleared everything else out, we were finally able to get started on little Pierce's room. Our families came and painted for us, which was a HUGE blessing, since neither one of us has a love or talent for it. I LOVE the color! I made these frames using some decoupage, scrapbook paper, and ribbon. They will, of course, eventually have pictures in them.

Karlye gave us her old changing table, which we painted and spruced up a bit! I'd say it turned out great!

This was a hand-me-down dresser from my sis, Breanna, which we dressed up a little with some porcelain polka knobs from Hobby Lobby. I made the sign with some fabric, my machine, some trim, canvas, and a little hot glue.

The letters were another decoupage endeavor. The lamp shade believe it or not is actually made from poster board, fabric, trim, hot glue, and fishing line. What a great way to recycle a pretty lamp! Thanks, Katie, for the help! The crib and bedding were both gifts and bought for a GREAT bargain!

And the pillow was made using part of the bedding and adding an applique. It will eventually go in the glider that we'll steal from Allie's room, but for now, I've decided to leave the swing in there for a little while.

I love how everything came together so perfectly! Although we're at maximum capacity at this point, I can't say that we are in need of any more space than we have! I also think that the rooms, post baby transformation, are much better than they were before!

This Vs. That

Lest you think that I'm a total pessimest on this whole pregnancy subject, I decided to try to look for the silver lining, and came up with some things that have definitely improved "this time" versus "last time".

Last time:

I LITERALLY threw up every day from 5-22 weeks, and then it picked up again from 30-40 weeks.

This time:

Although I certainly have my days, and definitely FEEL sick a lot of them, there are DEFINITELY many days where I do not ACTUALLY throw up! =) I mainly give the credit to my sweet hubby who brings my my meds in bed each morning at least 30 min before I wake up! What a difference it makes!

Last time:

I felt like I was the ultimate bargain shopper by spending a grand total of $220 on ALL of Allie's furniture by buying it all used on craigslist.

This time:

I am even happier to say that I have spent absolutely NOTHING on Pierce's furniture! AND, his room looks amazing! (Pictures to come soon, I promise. We just finished this weekend) I should add that this has much more to do with the generosity of friends and family and a little do it yourself-ness on my part than my savvy shopping abilities. Thanks, Karlye and Breanna for the hand-me-down changing table and dresser, and Mom and Dad for the beautiful crib!

Last time:

There were parts of my body that were LITERALLY ripping apart. I'm not kidding, I'm talking skin cracking in half, ripping apart. I felt quite similarly to how I imagine that Bella must have felt in Breaking Dawn.

This time:

Well, there is no breaking or ripping of skin going on. Enough said! =)

Last time:

I had the wonderful pleasure of finding out how maternity pantyhose felt due to our lovely winter dress code at work, that only let up my last 2 weeks on the job. Let me just tell you, they felt about as pleasant as they sound.

This time:

I've been able to trade in my pantyhose (which I do not plan to wear in a very, very long time, by the way) for the wonderful maternity bathing suit! While it may not be the prettiest site for those around me, I am a HUGE fan of forgetting about how you look in it, and fully taking in the benefits of swimming (one of my all time favorite things to do normally) while being pregnant.

Last time:

I had more than my share of those people who felt the need to come up and say such wonderfully encouraging things, such as, "Wow, when are you due. You look like you're about ready to pop." Then, when I would respond with something like, "Oh, not for 2 0r 3 more months," they would reply with something like, "Oh my! Is it twins!?" To this, I think they probably generally just got a nasty stare, rather than an actual response from me.

This time:

I'm very happy to say that I haven't received even one of these comments! In fact, quite to the contrary, some people have actually acted surprised when I tell them how soon my due date is. Let me just say to all of you out there who feel the need to talk to pregnant strangers... this approach makes a lady feel much better about her present situation than the previously described approach. Well, what if the person really does look HUGE, you ask? Always best to stick to the principle, "If you can't think of something nice to say, just don't say anything at all."

So, there you have it, if I can find it here, then surely you can find the silver lining in each and every situation! =)

So, what have I been spending a large part of my time on this month? You guessed it! Getting all the details of this year's Christmas in the Valley lined up! I figured that if I was crazy enough to attempt this with a 6 week old and a 16 month old, that I'd better have as much done before Pierce's arrival as possible!

So, yes, it is early to be thinking of Christmas shopping, but you just get ready, because this year's C in the V will be even better than last! Trust me, you want to mark your calendars now for November 6, because this is the shopping event of the season that you will NOT want to miss!

We'll be packing about 20 vendors (who I've hand-picked) into mom's house, who will ALL be offering their products/services at a special, one day only discounted rate! I promise not to talk too much more about it until October, when I'll be spotlighting each vendor and letting you know exactly what discounts they'll be giving, as well as offering several awesome giveaways to you, but until then, I'll leave you with a little taste of what you have to look forward to!

Pregnancy....

Okay, I've decided that updating you on everything in one blog post would get long, boring, and have too many pictures. So, I'll just update you on one topic at a time, starting with pregnancy, because, well it just seems relavent. Other topics to come (in no particular order) will be sewing, Christmas in the Valley, baby stuff, Pierce's room, and Allie. Enjoy.

So, pregnancy, to some is a pleasant, miraculous experience. I've heard it said over and over. Let me just tell you, that yes, I know it is a miracle how God grows life inside of you, but I find nothing about the experience itself to be something natural or enjoyable. I feel quite strongly that the actually means of pregnancy and childbirth are due to the fall, and if it hadn't been for sin entering the world, there surely would have been some other way to experience this "miracle" =).

Before you find me too cynical, please realize that I'm partly saying this in jest, and that I feel I should get a pass regardless on my cynicism, because afterall, this is coming from a girl who, out of the past 2 years, has been pregnancy 18 months of them. Yes, you heard it right. Put yourself in my shoes, and see if you feel all warm and gooey about pregnancy.

Yes, it is worth it in the end, I realize that. It was with Allie and I know it will be with little Pierce, but I can't say after consuming approximately 480 Zofrans in the past 2 years that I'll miss any of it. In fact, I can say that I'll be quite happy to enter a nice LONG period of time without thinking about those things!

People are always asking how I'm feeling these days, and my response is usually fine. Fine. What does that really mean? It means, I suppose, that each day passes, and while some days I feel more disgusting than the day before, some days are not quite so bad. It means that as my body continues to expand, and feel sore, and like it is slowly being ripped apart, as I sit here helpless in the matter, that I guess in my condition I'd classify myself as fine.

At the beginning of this pregnancy, I was in no particular hurry to have this baby, because the thought of a 15 1/2 month old and an infant terrified (and to some extent still does terrify) me, but I can officially say that I'm at the point where I am ready for him to make his entrance. Terrified or not, I'd say taking care of two precious little ones has got to beat being pregnant any day!

Oh, and for those of you who say you miss being pregnant, I say you are nuts! =) Just my opinion, though!

That it's been a month since I've updated this poor blog of mine. I am very ashamed of this fact. Where has the time gone? I'm not sure! All I know is that we have been CRAZY busy, and anytime that I think of sitting down to update you or think of something fun or witty to entertain you, my mind is so overwhelmed with tiredness, that I've opted to take a nap instead! =)

Wow! Am I missing the days of relaxing by the beach and the pool! Ever since I've gotten back things have been crazy!

Over the course of the next week, I'll be throwing a bridal shower, attending another one, going to a bridesmaid luncheon, attending my own baby shower, and throwing another baby shower! And, just in case that didn't seem like enough to pack into one week, I'll also be spending the day at Pickwick and working our little machine to death with a bunch of monogramming! Phew! Makes me worn out just thinking about it all! It sure will be a week packed full of fun though!

Somehow, I sure hope I can fit in time to do Pierce's nursery! Time seems to be flying by like crazy! I've only got 3 dr.'s appointments left before d-day! At least I've got it all envisioned in my head on how I want the room to look, but I'm thinking now's about the time to start putting those visions into reality. Maybe I should get through this next crazy week first, though!

In other news, I'm anxiously awaiting to hear whether Allie's new cousin will be a boy or a girl. I'll admit that I'm selfishly hoping for a boy, so Pierce won't feel so left out in a family FULL of girls. We'll see in the next few weeks...

Oh, and don't worry, in the midst of all the busy-ness, sweet Allie is getting plenty of attention. My nap times, however, are greatly being cut into! =)
